So......as everyone knows I'm on Twitter
( @becomingdadni ) and as you do, you follow people and products that you like or have an interest in. As I have a beard, I would keep an eye on products to look after it and this comes in me following beardy tweeters and one of them is our very own 'Belfast Beard Company'.
When I saw that there was such a company, just down the road, I had to contact them and they were very nice in sending me some of their products to test out.
There was a lovely wee note from Laura & Adam inside and I love the hashtag
#updabeards
The guys who run the company have a wealth of barber and beard knowledge, which is wonderful because you can see it's a passion for them rather than just a business.
They sent me a bottle of oil and tub of balm to try on 'the beast' (as I have named it). The first thing that caught my eye was that the oil had a spray attachment which was a brilliant idea. The other oils I've tried you had to shake the oil onto your hand, whereas with this you can either spray straight onto the beard or onto your hands to rub in.
They are also very well packed in recycled packaging and this can all be fully recycled afterwards.
The smell is very manly, my other ones I have, have been more sweet and fruity so this was a great alternative to them and is great because it's like an aftershave. They do have many other pils to choose from and if you contact them either via Twitter/ Facebook or the website, I'm sure they will give you a breakdown of the other smells.
The balm is softer than the previous one's I have had and in so is much easier to use, to rub in.
It is a very good moisturizer for the skin underneath the beard as this can be a concern that the skin can become dry and the beard can be affected and look a little frazzled.
It's not greasy, so that when it has been rubbed in and then combed through, the beard has a lovely shine but isn't oily to the touch.
I'll add a link to Belfast Beards website and Twitter account at the bottom of this post, that it makes it easier for people to click on their links. They have a great range of oils, balms and other beard related items on their site and I would highly recommend using their products if you are looking at some new beardy products or looking to buy someone a great gift.
