The first week in February......

I have been very quiet on the blog to start the year of but to be honest not much good news has happened so far and apart from decorating the bedroom, I haven' been up to anything slightly interesting.

One of my best mates became a Dad for the first time at the end of January and I'd like to welcome him to the fun Ann's madness of no sleep and endless cuddles.

I did see on tv for the first time while watching Channel 4 an advert for breastfeeding in public, which I thought was brilliant. The stigma attached to what is essentially a mother feeding her child, when the child is needing feed is wild. Any bottle fed baby gets fed in public and no one bats an eyelid, but something which lets be honest started at the birth of the first baby is shunned. It' not as if breastfeeding mothers sit in the middle of busy shops, coffee places etc and wipe the top up and announce to everyone what they're doing. They do it discreetly and for a lot of first time mothers with the feeling of embarrssment, hoping that no one stares at them disapprovingly, hoping that baby is quick and doesn' bring attention to the both of them. So I'm glad the advert has highlighted this wonderful thing mum's do for their babies and YES not every mum can OR wants to and any decision is always made for the best interest of mother and child and surely in the end is that not the must important thing. Not that they are in your eye line and I'm pretty sure there's a babies head in view of any 'private' area AND there are many other things you could be staring at which would be of more interest!

So I hope that a whole lot more mum's give the ol'  breastfeeding in public a go and normalize a normal everyday (sometimes every 30 min) event.

Derry Girls and 'The Hunted' finished for their seasons on Channel 4 this week both very addictive programmes and looked forward to each week once I got set down to relax after decorating. Which was great because I could fast forward the adverts.

Grandad in the Derry Girls stole the show each week.

The Winter Olympics has finally started this week and I have enjoyed the bits I have caught so far especially the Ice Hockey and the curling.

A word on the decorating, it's been a labour of love this bedroom but I am working on re-furbing the wardrobe doors by paining them white rather than the beech colour they are. After giving the doors, plinth and Cornice a light sandpapering, sugar soap them to remove and debris. Then a coat of primer, then the same sandpaper process. I have the first coat of colour on and and am half way through the second and it is giving them a new lease of life.
