Homemade Dad needs Blogging help

I am very much a newbie when it comes to all this blogging/ vlogging/ Tweeting and Facebooking. So I'm asking all of you bloggers etc... how to I get my footfall larger. At most my daily blogs may get high 50s and at a push up to hear the 90s views.

I know the more daily blogs I put the more they get noticed but is there something else I could do to help gain viewers.

It is pretty cool to see where all the viewers are from, mostly from USA, UK, Ireland, Canada and Brazil but there are quite a few viewers from The UAE, Ukraine, Peru, France, Portugal and Germany.

I rarely get any viewers from any where else around the world.

Coffee Break sketch......23 Feb

Another day with dreaded chesty cold, my voice has been coming and going all week.

Finley had his eye appointment this morning at the hospital. Just a routine one, as both of us wear glasses and all seems well.

I now have must of the wallpaper and woodchip taken off the walls and ceiling in the small room. So hopefully get that finished ready for painting soon and hopefully I'll be able to start out in the garden soon, rather than indoors. As well as getting the studio in order.

Whats all this Vlogging and would anyone watch me?

I've noticed that there seems to be a lot more Dads doing the vlogs and some are doing daily ones. I have to be honest, I don't do that much interesting stuff each day for people to want to see what I get up too. Also I have a really annoying voice and hate hearing myself on recordings.

Would people want to see what I get up to outside off work, my walks with Finley, decorating the house and once I get started, the working on the garden. But until the first vlog, I'm going to watch a lot more dad vlogs to see if I could possibly do one in the future or if it' just pie in the sky.

I suppose I could do vlogs about my cooking and baking. Along with my art work as well, so watch this space and we'll see if you get to hear my Northern Irish country voice!

Homemade dad's......Fakeaway Kebab

Homemade dad's Fakeaway Kebab

Ingredients

  • 1tsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Pepper
  • 1 tsp Oregano
  • 1 tsp Mixed Herbs
  • 500g Lamb Mince
Equipment- Slow cooker

Mix all the ingredients except for mince, together in a bowl.

Now add the mince and mix well. Once all ingredients are mixed well, roll the mixture into a loaf shape.

Put the loaf into the slow cooker for 6 (six) hours on LOW or 4 (four) hours on HIGH.

Once it's finished cooking, remove form the slow cooker and wrap in him foil and leave to cool for ten minutes.

While it's resting, prepare your salad and pitta bread - warm the pitta under the grill.

Now unwrap the kebab meat and thinly slice off pieces for your pitta bread.

So, enjoy the Fakeaway Kebab recipe and share and share it with all your friends and stay in tune for more Homemade dad recipes.

It can also be enjoyed with chips.

In this day an age there should be a coffee app, to send them through your order before you arrive. Maybe this is how I make my millions!?!

A day at the Folk Park, Belfast

It was the sunniest day of the year so far but boy was it cold when you got outside. It was one of those days when you are set in the car and you say to yourself it's a warm enough day and decide to head out only to realise that once you step outside the car that it is a lot colder than you thought but Finley needed to let out a whole lot of energy and the Folk park is a great and safe place for him to be able to do this. Many a time when we go here it's like a giant play park which he has to himself.

The cinema at the park where they show re-runs of Charlie Chaplin, with my own little slap-stick actor playing about on the stage.

Finley looking to see if anyone has the kettle on for a cuppa and a slice of cake.

Door handles and locks, Finleys new favourite toy when he sees doors and also the laughing he does when trying to close the door on Daddy!

The first week in February......

I have been very quiet on the blog to start the year of but to be honest not much good news has happened so far and apart from decorating the bedroom, I haven' been up to anything slightly interesting.

One of my best mates became a Dad for the first time at the end of January and I'd like to welcome him to the fun Ann's madness of no sleep and endless cuddles.

I did see on tv for the first time while watching Channel 4 an advert for breastfeeding in public, which I thought was brilliant. The stigma attached to what is essentially a mother feeding her child, when the child is needing feed is wild. Any bottle fed baby gets fed in public and no one bats an eyelid, but something which lets be honest started at the birth of the first baby is shunned. It' not as if breastfeeding mothers sit in the middle of busy shops, coffee places etc and wipe the top up and announce to everyone what they're doing. They do it discreetly and for a lot of first time mothers with the feeling of embarrssment, hoping that no one stares at them disapprovingly, hoping that baby is quick and doesn' bring attention to the both of them. So I'm glad the advert has highlighted this wonderful thing mum's do for their babies and YES not every mum can OR wants to and any decision is always made for the best interest of mother and child and surely in the end is that not the must important thing. Not that they are in your eye line and I'm pretty sure there's a babies head in view of any 'private' area AND there are many other things you could be staring at which would be of more interest!

So I hope that a whole lot more mum's give the ol'  breastfeeding in public a go and normalize a normal everyday (sometimes every 30 min) event.

Derry Girls and 'The Hunted' finished for their seasons on Channel 4 this week both very addictive programmes and looked forward to each week once I got set down to relax after decorating. Which was great because I could fast forward the adverts.

Grandad in the Derry Girls stole the show each week.

The Winter Olympics has finally started this week and I have enjoyed the bits I have caught so far especially the Ice Hockey and the curling.

A word on the decorating, it's been a labour of love this bedroom but I am working on re-furbing the wardrobe doors by paining them white rather than the beech colour they are. After giving the doors, plinth and Cornice a light sandpapering, sugar soap them to remove and debris. Then a coat of primer, then the same sandpaper process. I have the first coat of colour on and and am half way through the second and it is giving them a new lease of life.

January...... A hard month to 'adult'

Its been over a month since my last blog, the year 2018 was to start of with bad news about one of my closest friends. This lady ment the world to me and pretty much every other person she came into contact with.

In the nine years I knew her, she was someone I could talk with, she fed me at times, cut my hair and was just great fun to work with. She was amazing in her local community, working on so many projects to help them out. She had a natural vigour for life which showed in everything she put her hand too.

I could keep on writing about what a wonderful woman she was but I'm not too sure how long a blog can be before it doesn't allow you to type any more.

The week after we learned she was suffering from cancer, we went to the funeral off her father. I had never been to a chapel funeral before but little did I know at that time, that I would be in the same chapel two weeks later for her own funeral.

In the 58 years she was here she had done some amazing things and was only getting started. I'l not go into everything as it would be up to her family to tell the world all her stories.

All I know is that the pain I felt after getting the phone call to say she passed away was just a fraction of the hurt her family felt and are still feeling. She will be sorely missed but her memory will never be diminished, we just have to think back to all the stories we have of her.

Friday was a hard day at her funeral but the turn out she received is testament to how amazing she was. I will always miss her but she lives in us all and I can still hear her laugh and see her face. God rest our B.
