Finley sleeps through......

My boy slept through the night on Thursday night for the first time. From 10pm till 5am! He has done pretty well since as well.

I know that there isn't many people read my wee blog but I just wanted the world to know how great my wee man is doing and for everyone who does read the blog to get to see the journey Finn is taking.

That's all for my Sunday evening. Hope everyone has a lovely one......

Finley's First Injections......

After another great night's sleep from the little man, we had a snuggle for another hr to give mum a little longer to sleep. Then, it was time to get up to sort out the puppies and to start the day. I'd taken the day off work to take Finn to the Doctors later, so there is time for a big mug of coffee and to watch an episode of "MKR" My Kitchen Rules Australia.
Side note: If you haven't watched this yet, get on it. It's epic viewing.

Finley and mum had their Sensory class in the morning, so while they went to that I went to Costa Coffee and did a little bit of sketchwork and well......I had a coffee while I was there. It would have been rude not too......

After their fun Finn and mum came down to collect me and for mum to get a drink.....
Finn after his milk feed......

So......Finn had his injection's and was amazing. He gave a little cry but was soon content, if not a little sleepy. It broke my heart to see his little face go from my smiling little boy, to upset in a blink of an eye. You know it's for the best that he has these injections and in a short while he'll never remember the pain that happened to him but it still hurts my heart that he was in that pain for even such a short period of time.

We got him home and some medicine to help with the after effects. He is currently snoozing on his mum and being his normal delight.

A mixture of medicine and the injection's has knocked him out and he has slept on me for the last two hrs while I watched Ramsey's Hotel Hell.

We took him up to get him ready for bed and he cried himself sore until he was changed but soon again he was sleepy. My poor boy, he looks so peaceful sleeping beside us. Hopefully he will have a good night and be abit closer to being back to himself again.

First time......Tart maker!

When I was last  at my mum & dad's I saw that their rhubarb was ready to cut. So I said we would be round on Friday to get some. So this Rhubarb went from the garden to the tart within 5hrs from growing in my mum & dad's garden to in the oven.

So I got one of my recipe books out, to see about making my first ever Rhubarb tart. Zoe loves Rhubarb, so I know at least one person would eat it.

I used Darina Allen's book Irish Traditional Cookking to get the recipe.

Unfortunately, by the time I got home, made dinner and got the wee man bathed and ready for bed, I ended up rushing it quite a bit so it wasn't as well made as I would have hoped but I was still hopeful it would taste good.

I had forgot, from when my mum made Rhubarb tarts, how much juice came out of them. So, there was a bit of a clean up needed afterwards. I didn't have a pyrex plate, which threw me off a bit as well. (I'll be needing one of them for my next one.)

As you can see, it isn't a pretty tart but we had some last night with custard and it tasted pretty good. The crust was a tad thick, which I'll sort out next time.

Keep a watch out for the next 'Bake Off' that I make! 😊 I have said I'll make Zoe a Birthday cake next month and once The Great British Bake Off is back on screen, I'll bake something each week! *gulp

Another hot day in Northern Ireland......

This is quite a surprising post two scorcher days in a row for Northern Ireland and I've been stuck working both of them, while everyone else seems to have been to the beach.

The fan is on full tilt today in our household to try to get the temperature to a more suitable one for Finn.

I managed to get out a little early tonight and got home to see the little man.

Got a look around the garden and unfortunately it's been a little too hot for some of the vegetables in the greenhouse but that is a learning curve.

The dogs have spent must of the day lying under cover outside, so getting the best of both worlds.

The weather forecasters are saying we will be due Thunder and Lightening either through the night or sometime tomorrow. So, that should be a good light show.

Finn is currently enjoying the nice cooler bedroom, cooing lying on the bed with mum.

Well......I have to go and get another bowl of water for the doggies and some ice lollies for us.

Hope everyone who reads this is enjoying the weather, wherever you all are.

Leave a comment below, telling where and what the weather is like where you are.

Warmest day of the year......in Northern Ireland

So while all us adults cooked in our jobs today, the sun shone all over Northern Ireland.

Babies everywhere got hot and bothered and our Finley was included in that number.

God love all the mums and dads that were at home across Northern Ireland looking after frazzled little ones.

By the time I had got home this evening and had stopped for a cheeky take-away dinner, Finn had, had a very sticky day. Mum had, had him into the bath and was getting a late evening milk meal. I got chance to feed the dogs and get a new clothes-line put up, as washing has seemed to have got much more since the little mans arrival.

I came in to give Zoe a little escape, get cleaned and cleared up and I seem to have hot him at his most relaxed.

So Finn and I have spent the evening having a relaxing drink and watching the World Matchplay Darts.

Finley's......first time to the farm

On Saturday Zoe said that we would be visiting Streamvale Open Farm in Dundonald, Belfast with Judith, Chris and their little girl, Carys.

Well.....once we got to the farm, Zoe phoned Judith, who had just pulled up at Belfast Zoo as this was where we were actually supposed to go but because of missed communication, we ended up at different places. But, they travelled over to the farm to meet up. What a wonderful day it was. It must be nearly 25 years since I was last there, so it was nearly both Finns and mine first time there! 😊

The sun was shining and the company we were in was lovely.

Piglets lazying about......

Start of feeding time, there ended up with about 12 piglets getting milk......

Ewe are KIDDing me......😂

Loads of bunny wabbits......

Milking parlour......

If you look into the centre of the picture, you can see where the milk is being collected.

Colourful character......

Peacocks and hens.....

Chris was mimicing the Roosters call.

He was an awful Boar......

These lot were quackers......

Red dear on the hill.

Stag bending down eating grass.

The two ladies......

These are just a small selection of the animals you can expect to see if you visit.

There was a few pictures I did forget to take, one of them being of the amazing icecream sundae's you can get, which by the way are delicious and the other was a picture of the whole group.

Becoming Dad does.....the NEXT sale

First when Zoe mentioned about me going instead of her to the NEXT sale, I thought she was joking. Me!!! Get up before 5am to go queue for a clothing sale! But, when it got closer to the day, I thought, they do great qualitity clothes and we would get Finley a new wardrobe and I knew Zoe wouldn't be able to go as she would have to take Finn, as she's feeding him. So I thought, it would be a decent thing to do and go to the sale.

Also, with the amazing alarm clock that is Finley James, I was actually up at 4:30am, much to Zoe's amazement I got up and jumped in the car and got their just before doors opened at 5am. When I saw the length of the queue, I did think I'm going to be here queuing for ages and once inside, by the time I get in everything will have been picked through. Thou, and behold the queue moved fast and I got straight in and made a bee-line to the baby section.

At first, there wasn't many women about, then I blinked and they were all there on mass. I fought my way through to the baby boy clothes and started to collect as best I could. Not thinking Zoe would like anything I had picked for him. I did manage to pick a few things up for Zoe and a lovely coat and flat cap for me.

Here are a few of his new wardrobe-

Thankfully, the queue at the tills wasn't too bad so after getting the clothes, I was in and out pretty quickly. When I got back to our home, I think Zoe had thought I hadn't picked anything because I couldn't be bothered standing in the queues and just came on home and was surprised that I was then and back in just over an hour with two big bags of clothes. I showed her and was pleasantly surprised that she liked them and that was a job well done.

I might even brave the NEXT Boxing Day sale! 😂
